Finding Long Term Drug Rehab Centers in Idaho

Idaho is one of the smaller states and ths does not have as many options for long term substance abuse treatment. We have provided a list below of some of the long term drug rehab centers, and you will see that there are not very many. It is often neccessary for people form idaho to go out of state to get the proper treatment. Going out of state is often a good idea anyway as it puts the substance abuser far away from drug dealers, friends that also abuse drugs and alcohol and their environment. Long term treatment centers generally report that it is easier to keep a substance abuser in treatment long enough if they are far away from their home environment.

In the latest survey compiled by the Idaho Criminal Justice Practioners that did its survey in 2002, they found that "The overarching emphasis by those taking the survey was the lack of quality, long term in-patient treatment in Idaho for drug addicts." In 2007 there were 46 substance abuse programs in Idaho delivering services at 146 sites.

Every state has a Single State Agency that is usually part of the Deartment of Mental Health. They oversee the prevention and treatment services in the state and also oversee funding of treatment centers. You can contact them if you need a state funded program. We do not recommend a state funded substance abuse treatment program as the first option because they usually do not provide long term drug rehab services.

According to information from the National Survey on Drug Abuse 8% of Idaho residents reported having used illicit drugs in the last months. 3.58 reported having used other than marijuana. The death rate for substance abuse is the same in Idaho as the national average. There were 133 death as a direct consequence of substance abuse.

If you search for long term drug treatment centers in the Facility Locator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, treatment program more than 30 days is considered a long term drug treatment center. Yet, research done by the National Insitute on Drug Abuse shows that less than 90 days treatment for someone severely afflicted with substance abuse is not successful.
